School holiday activities for kids who love to read and create

With temperatures rising and school holidays looming, parents will be reassured to know that The Hills Shire Library Service is offering a very cool program for creative kids to do during the spring break, including:

Mosaic Art with The Bower
Create a piece of amazing mosaic art using upcycled ceramic tiles, pebbles, buttons and shells. Taught by experienced mosaic creators this workshop will explore colours and shapes as you make your own design.
Sessions on Tuesday 26th September:
Vinegar Hill Memorial Library | 10am – noon
Castle Hill Library | 2pm – 4pm
Cost: $15pp
Suitable for children in school years 2-6.
This project is a NSW EPA Waste Less, Recycle More initiative funded from the waste levy.

Unbelieveabubbles
Learn the science behind bubbles. Make your own bubble mixture to use as we experiment making different shaped bubbles including a bubble snake!

Thursday, September 28|10am – 11am or 11.30am – 12.30pm
Cost: $15.50pp per session.
Suitable for children in school years K-2.

Potato Power!
Get hands-on experience building potato clocks as you learn how electric circuits and batteries work.

Edison Robots
Are you interested in robotics? Learn how robots are programmed as you complete fun activities to get these mini robots on wheels moving.
Dural Library

Cost: $20pp.

Looking After Your Pets Storytime with the RSPCA
Do you have a pet or just love animals? Join us for stories about pets and learn tips on how to look after your special friend.

Suitable for children in school years K-2.

Writing Workshops with Oliver Phommavanh
Join comedian, teacher and author Oliver Phommavanh to learn how to turn your wacky ideas into funny stories. Create crazy characters to take on weird adventures that will have everyone laughing out loud.

Wednesday, October 4| 10am – 11am or 11.15am – 12.15pm
Cost: $14pp per session.
Suitable for children in school years 3-6.
