December is a jam-packed month for The Hills.
With the festive season upon us, there’s plenty of holiday activities to keep both kids and adults entertained.
When: 1 December – 31 January
Where: Hills Libraries
The Summer Reading Club is open to school students aged 5 – 14 who are library members. You will receive a Summer Reading Club log when you join. Then, simply see Library staff every time you borrow from the Library to advance a space in your log.
When: 6 – 23 December
Where: Market Square, Rouse Hill Town Centre
Rouse Hill Town Centre, in partnership with The Hills Shire Council, will host the first ever ‘Hills Illuminate’ this Thursday – providing families and friends with a bright and radiant way to celebrate the festive season. There will be two shows each night, at 8.30pm and 9pm.
When: 7 – 23 December
Where: The Piazza, Castle Towers
Take a break from Christmas shopping and pop into The Piazza where you’re sure to get into the festive spirit. There will be carols and performances throughout December to help to set the mood. Enjoy the big Christmas tree at the entrance to The Piazza which is perfect for some family snaps.

Where: Vinegar Hill Memorial Library
Join nutritionist Mandy Sacher as she discusses her new book “Wholesome Child”. Learn creative and effective tips and techniques designed to encourage even the fussiest of eaters to try new foods and develop a taste for healthy and nourishing foods right from the start.
Shakespeare in the Park – Measure For Measure
When: 8 – 30 December
Where: Bella Vista Farm
Shakespeare may as well have written this play yesterday – an Elizabethan Orange Is The New Black meets A Handmaid’s Tale – Measure For Measure pushes the genre of comedy to it’s darkest and most biting limits. A murky and morally ambiguous exploration of desire and power that will shock audiences with it’s contemporary voice, will make you laugh and make you think twice.
Shakespeare in the Park – The Servant of Two Masters
When: 15 -30 December
Where: Bella Vista Farm
Adapted from Carlo Goldoni’s mid 18th Century Italian comedy, The Servant of Two Masters is a delicious feast of fun, following the story of an enterprising and perpetually hungry servant who endeavours to work for two masters in order to earn twice the meals!
When: 9 & 23 December
Where: Castle Hill Showground
For the freshest produce in the region, head to the Hawkesbury Harvest Markets at Castle Hill Showground. Grab a coffee and a delicious bacon and egg roll and browse the tantalizing stalls and seller displays.
When: Wednesday 13 December
Where: Bella Vista Farm
Come along and celebrate Christmas close to home at Bella Vista Farm. With carols as well as Christmas themed performances, children and adults alike will be sure to get into the festive spirit.
When: Sunday 17 December
Where: Bruce Purser Reserve
Sydney Thunder Fans will have the chance to meet their sporting heroes at the Sydney Thunder Fan Day at Bruce Purser Reserve. The team will be signing autographs, attending the Junior Member Clinic and taking part in a Q&A session on the day.
When: Sunday 31 December
Where: Bella Vista Farm
For the first-time ever, residents of The Hills can celebrate at Bella Vista Farm on New Year’s Eve without having to leave the Shire. Celebrate with live music, food trucks, a bar, rides, and of course, fireworks!
