It’s going to be an action-packed year ahead for actor, journalist and TV personality Candice Dixon.
But before she closes the door on 2017 and welcomes in 2018, the Sydney Weekender reporter will MC the first-ever Hills Shire New Year’s Eve (NYE) celebration at Bella Vista Farm on December 31.
With loads of family-friendly entertainment, rides, fireworks, a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere and an easier journey home, Hills residents can welcome in the New Year in a fun and relaxed environment.
Apart from the exciting and free activities on offer to attendees, Candice said she’s really looking forward to welcoming one very special guest to the stage.
“I really can’t wait to introduce the headlining act at NYE – the one and only, Ian Moss!” Candice said.
“I couldn’t think of a better Aussie artist to get everyone up and dancing to.
“It’s going to be huge!”
Like many people around the world, the Channel Seven reporter has already set in place her New Year’s resolution.
“One of my resolutions is to actually use my juicer!” she said.
“It’s one of those things that you use once and then the cleaning becomes too hard and you put it away in storage.
“In 2018, I’d love to start most days with a beautiful fresh juice. I am obsessed with summer fruits and it’s the most incredible way to enjoy them, not to mention the health benefits.”
Candice is best known for hosting the Seven Network’s Saturday Disney where she travelled the world to present and produce entertainment and lifestyle segments.
She has also interviewed celebrities, chart-topping singers, and famous actors including Hugh Jackman, Ben Stiller, Rebel Wilson, Amanda Seyfried and Ty Burrell to name a few.
To add to her extensive resume, the TV personality has also been enlisted as a guest reporter on other Seven shows including The Daily Edition and The Morning Show, and presented entertainment segments for Seven Sport.
One of her most memorable moments in her career to date was interviewing Aussie actor and heartthrob, Hugh Jackman.
But, she admits there have been plenty of memories made throughout her stellar work life.
“He [Hugh Jackman] is my favourite person to interview,” she said.
“In all seriousness though, I can’t decide, but it would have to relate to my overseas experiences.
“I loved my first red carpet interview in New York with Colin Farrell, filming in London at Christmas time with Rebel Wilson and running around Disneyland in my Minnie Ears with a GoPro strapped to my head,” Candice added.
Working in showbiz combined with long travel times, flights and a busy schedule can take its toll.
But Candice has found solace in exercise and mindfulness.
“I have found yoga and meditation extremely beneficial,” she said.
“It’s a great way to stay focused, relaxed and strong both mentally and physically!
“I may spend all day thinking of an idea and then when I stop, it just comes naturally to me.
“It’s easier said than done, but it’s by far the best lesson I’ve learnt,” Candice added.
And talking about lessons – Candice has taken on a new approach for 2018.
“This time last year I was reporting at Channel 7’s tennis broadcast. I noticed that when I asked this question to the tennis players, they all had the same response: ‘one match at a time’,” she said.
“I’ve since taken this advice on board personally and focus on the present moment a lot more than I used to!”
