Under Construction

The Hills is growing – and new community spaces are currently under construction to creative vibrant places for our increasing population.

Construction has begun on new playgrounds at Barry Road Reserve and Gormon Avenue, Kellyville. The Barry Road playground will feature a bespoke shade structure, seating and a bubbler and is part of a bigger project for the site which includes a detention basin and landscaping works in the near future.

A vacant space will soon be transformed into a fun, interactive play space. The new Gormon Avenue Reserve will feature a basketball court, playground, outdoor table tennis, seating, shelter, picnic settings and a drink station. The concept also includes a shared pathway connecting to the 82km network throughout the Shire.

The Pioneer Room at Castle Grand is being upgraded to become either a 360+ seat theatre or a function room. The upgrade includes major works which will transform the user experience with retractable tiered seating, stage modules, drapes for the stage area, new audio and visual equipment, refurbishment of the change rooms and construction of a box office.

A brand new sports centre is nearing completion at Caddies Creek Reserve. Stage One will deliver four new sporting fields, two amenities buildings, shared pedestrian/cycle paths, four new bridges and landscaped parklands. The works also include initiatives such as water recycling, removal of weeds and planting of approximately 10,000 new native trees, shrubs and groundcovers. The project was made possible after Council and Sydney Water entered into a long-term lease agreement to develop Sydney Water owned land for sporting use.

Work is nearing completion on the first-ever synthetic sports field in The Hills. The new fields at Bernie Mullane Reserve will allow for greater training opportunities and fewer ground closures – increasing the opportunities for locals to play sport year-round.
