Just over 10 years ago, work was beginning that would rescue a run-down Bella Vista Farm and transform it into a place where the community could enjoy a little piece of history and time out from the daily grind.
Today, following an extensive restoration and conservation project, ‘The Farm’ shines as a culturally significant complex with historic homestead, outbuildings, iconic Bunya Pine tree lined driveway and, like any self-respecting farm, a resident flock of sheep.
For many years, Bella Vista Farm remained such a well-kept secret that even locals were surprised to stumble across it. More recently, Council resolved to open it up to a variety of events that would entice people to visit, soak up its ambiance and enjoy a day out.
In the last 12 months, Bella Vista Farm has hosted incredibly popular events like Christmas in the Hills, Shakespeare in the Park, Youth Theatre projects, New Year’s Eve fireworks and concert, Convict Footprints, Australia Day celebrations, footy fans days, Red Hot Summer tour with international act Suzi Quatro, The Country Rocks Sydney festival and much more.
Later this year, Get your Groove On – a Hunter Valley style wine, cheese and music experience – will delight Farm-goers while monthly open days and markets will be hosted by The Friends of Bella Vista Farm.
