Cross Country Challenge

Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just keen to get out and raise money for a good cause, there’s a course to suit everyone at the Cross Country Challenge this Sunday, September 23, at Bella Vista Farm.

The Cross Country Challenge is open to participants of all ages and fitness levels, and there’s absolutely no obligation to run.

Feel free to jog, walk, skip or hop – as long as you have fun doing it!

Hosted by The Rotary Club of Castle Hill, all funds raised at the Cross Country Challenge will be donated to local charities with the principal beneficiary being Headspace, a youth mental health foundation dedicated to improving the well-being of young Australians.

Rotary member Mike Blair said Headspace is a charity which is doing very important work and helping to make a positive change in the community.

“Headspace are tackling the massive issue of mental health in young people so we think they’re very deserving of our donations,” Mr Blair said.

“It’s a great cause and the day itself is also the perfect excuse to get the family out in the sun for a day of exercise and fun.

“We’re encouraging everybody to get involved and with three different courses, there’s sure to be something to suit participants of all ages and abilities,” he added.

The Family Fun Run course is 3.5 km while the Intermediate course is 7 km.

If you’re a keen runner or just really want to challenge yourself, you can tackle the 10 km Expert course.

The courses are designed to allow participants to experience the beauty of Bella Vista Farm, according to Mr Blair..

“The course winds its way through the grounds of the historic Bella Vista Farm, giving runners a taste of the scenic location,” Mr Blair said.

“The course also provides different challenges along the way, including some short inclines and running through dense tree filled areas,” he added.

There will be drink stations throughout the course to keep everyone hydrated.

Try and arrive a half hour before your run start time to sign in and collect your bib and be sure to stick around afterwards to check out the market stalls that will be onsite on the day.
